Frankfort Avenue Is Louisville's Korean Food Hub

The Story
Frankfort Avenue in Louisville's Clifton and Crescent Hill neighborhoods has emerged as a growing hub for Korean food and culture, with residents and business owners wondering whether the corridor could become the city's Koreatown.
Miki Miller, who immigrated from Korea more than 30 years ago, opened Miki's Karaoke Bar and Korean Restaurant at 2230 Frankfort Avenue in 2023, pairing karaoke with Korean cuisine including ramen, fried rice, kimchi stew, and spicy squid.
Cafe KIWA followed in December 2023, where founder Soo Young Cho, who relocated from Seoul, serves Korean brunch dishes like yeonipbop rice balls wrapped in lotus leaves alongside tea, gallery exhibitions of Korean artists, and craft workshops.
CM Chicken of Louisville, part of a South Korean fried chicken franchise with roughly 50 US locations since 2017, opened at 2221 Frankfort Avenue in March 2024 under pharmacists Viet Tran and Soyoung Chon with partners San Luu and Quyen Pham.
The cluster joins a wider Korean dining scene in Louisville that includes chef Edward Lee's Nami Korean Steakhouse in Nulu and Top 1 Korean BBQ in the Highlands.
Together the openings signal that Korean cuisine, from tteokbokki and corn dogs to patbingsu, has found a walkable Louisville street with an audience eager for more.
