Sony unveiled Project Q at its PlayStation Showcase on May 24, 2023, a dedicated handheld that streams PS5 games over a home wireless network using Remote Play.
Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan revealed the device, which pairs an 8 inch 1080p HD screen supporting 60fps playback with every button and feature of the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
The handheld is essentially a PlayStation controller with a screen built in, similar in concept to the Backbone One PlayStation Edition, and it does not run games natively, requiring a PS5 console to stream from.
